An Highly Important Continental
Cut Glass Chandelier

This eight light chandelier is of the finest quality and rare large size. The multi-baluster shaft centred by a one piece urn supporting a drop hung canopy terminating with a baluster shaped shaft piece.

The main receiver plate supports eight slip over candle arms suspending round finials and oval drapery terminating in petal edged slip over drip pans and glass savealls. The candle arms are separated by eight upper kick arms suspending pear shaped finials and oval drapery terminating with drop hung canopies and notched triangularly spires. The receiver bowl surmounted by an egg shaped shaft piece and drop hung canopy terminating in a diamond cut finial.

Chandeliers of this design were mostly made in England and although some continental examples do exist, they are extremely rare. This chandelier was, until recently, hanging in a castle in Belgium
