The sliding and removable superstructure with a pair of doors revealing mahogany beaded pigeonholes and small drawers with ivory handles, the folding top above a sectioned frieze drawer with a further recessed drawer below, inlaid throughout with narrow tulipwood bandings and stringing, with finely figured West Indian satinwood veneers throughout.

This piece is very similar to a lady’s secretary ande cabinet by George Simson, illustrated in Christopher Gilbert’s Pictorial Dictionary of Marked English Furniture, 1700-1840, p 422, plate 840.
