A George II Carved Mahogany Armchair

A George II Carved Mahogany Armchair
Origination: English
Circa: 1750

Having a pierced chair back carved with interlaced strapwork, rosettes, ‘C’ scrolls and apendant leaf. With contemporary needlework upholstery and standing on carved cabriole legs.

The chair described by Maple & Co in a letter to Mr Tomlinson as ‘…an extremely fine specimen of design, craftsmanship and preservation. The carving … is of very high quality and the chair is exceptional in that it has survived since about 1750 with the patina of age unspoilt by restoration.’
